New Mexico state law requires anyone planning a dig to provide two working days advance notice to owners of underground facilities. And everyone who owns underground facilities is required to mark the locations of those lines or take other appropriate measures to protect them.
Federal laws provide stiff penalties – including fines and possible jail time – for anyone who fails to notify underground facility owners about a dig if that dig results in an accident causing major property damage, injuries or loss of life.
Make just one call to New Mexico One Call, and they will take care of notifying their members of each planned dig that can affect their underground facilities.
